Features
Everything JamCash will do
JamCash will track five kinds of accounts and your net worth, file transactions with rules you write, compare budgets with real spending, project savings goals, find recurring bills, and report on all of it. Bank sync through SimpleFIN will be optional and read only, and ten MCP tools will let AI assistants work with your numbers.
Accounts and net worth
Which accounts will JamCash track?
JamCash will track checking, savings, credit card, loan and investment accounts, and add them up into one net worth figure.
- Five account types: checking, savings, investment, credit and loan
- Manual accounts, or accounts synced from your bank
- A page per account with its balance trend and transactions
- Investment holdings per account: symbol, shares, cost basis and value
- Net worth snapshots so you can chart it over time
Transactions and rules
How will JamCash categorize transactions?
JamCash will file transactions into categories you define, using rules that match the description by text, prefix or pattern.
- Rules match by contains, starts with, or a regular expression
- Rules run on every bank sync, so new transactions arrive filed
- Transfers between your own accounts are paired, so they do not count as spending
- Search, filter by account, category or date, and export to CSV
- Mark a transaction as a transfer or exclude it from reports
Budgets
How will budgets work in JamCash?
A JamCash budget will be one amount per category per month, compared against what you actually spent, with optional rollover.
- Budget vs actual for every budgeted category, with overspending flagged
- Rollover carries an unspent or overspent balance into next month
- Templates set a standing amount for a category every month
Savings goals
Will JamCash track savings goals?
Yes. Each savings goal will have a target, a balance and a monthly contribution, and JamCash will project when you will reach it.
- Progress as a percentage of the target
- A projected finish date from your monthly contribution
- On track or behind, measured against your own target date
Recurring bills and income
Will JamCash find subscriptions and recurring bills?
Yes. JamCash will detect charges that repeat and suggest them as recurring items, which you confirm or dismiss.
- Weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly frequencies
- Every item shown as a monthly cost, so a yearly fee compares with a weekly one
- Pause an item without deleting it
- Upcoming dates for what is due next
Reports and analytics
What reports will JamCash include?
JamCash will include three reports, spending by category, income vs expense by month, and net worth over time, each exportable to CSV.
- Month, quarter, year to date or a custom date range
- Analytics with month-over-month trends
- A credit score log you record by hand, charted over time
Bank sync through SimpleFIN
How will JamCash connect to my bank?
JamCash will connect to banks through SimpleFIN Bridge, a read-only service: you paste a one-time setup token and JamCash pulls the last 90 days on each sync.
- Read only: SimpleFIN cannot move money
- The access link is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is stored
- Your edits always win: a synced change to a row you edited waits for your review
- Choose which accounts sync; manual accounts are never touched
MCP server and REST API
Will I be able to use JamCash with an AI assistant?
Yes. JamCash will run an MCP server with ten tools, so assistants such as Claude can read your balances and budgets and file transactions.
- Seven read tools: overview, accounts, transaction search, budget status, goals, recurring items, spending report
- Three write tools: categorize a transaction, set a budget, delete a budget (asks for confirmation first)
- Scoped API keys: read, write, or bank administration
- A documented REST API (OpenAPI) for everything the web app does
