FAQ
JamCash questions, answered
JamCash is a personal finance manager for accounts, budgets, savings goals, recurring bills and reports, published by Sanford Labs and opening to early access before a public launch. Bank sync through SimpleFIN will be optional and read only, so JamCash can never move money. It will work with AI assistants over MCP.
About JamCash
What is JamCash?
JamCash is a personal finance manager. It tracks your accounts, transactions, budgets, savings goals and recurring bills in one place, reports on where your money goes, and can sync with your bank through SimpleFIN. It also runs an MCP server, so AI assistants can answer questions about your money.
When does JamCash launch?
JamCash does not have a public launch date yet. It is in early access: the product runs today for its first user, and we are getting it ready to host for everyone. Join the waitlist and you will hear the date first, before sign-up opens to the public.
What does early access include?
Early access means you get in before the public launch: JamCash with your own accounts, budgets, savings goals, recurring bills, reports, bank sync through SimpleFIN and the AI tools. Waitlist members are invited in the order they joined, and their feedback shapes what ships at launch.
Who is JamCash for?
JamCash is for people who want to see their whole financial picture in one place and keep it accurate: budgets checked against real spending, subscriptions found automatically, and net worth tracked over time. It suits anyone who would rather own their categories and rules than accept a bank app’s guesses.
How much will JamCash cost?
JamCash will be a paid subscription. Prices are not set yet; the pricing page will list them, in US dollars, before sign-up opens, and waitlist members will hear them first. Joining the waitlist is free and does not commit you to anything. Bank sync will also need a SimpleFIN Bridge account, which SimpleFIN bills separately.
Will I have to connect my bank?
No. Bank sync will be optional. You will be able to add accounts and transactions by hand and use every other feature: budgets, goals, recurring items, reports and the AI tools. Connect a bank through SimpleFIN later if you want transactions to arrive on their own.
Can JamCash move money or make payments?
No. JamCash only reads. Bank sync goes through SimpleFIN Bridge, which is read-only by design, and JamCash has no way to move money, pay bills or change anything at your bank. It records and reports; you stay in control of every payment.
Will JamCash work with ChatGPT, Claude or other AI assistants?
JamCash will work with any assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), such as Claude. You will create an API key in JamCash, add the MCP server, and the assistant can check balances, search transactions, report spending, and categorize transactions or set budgets if the key allows writes.
Will I be able to export my data?
Yes. Transactions, account activity, analytics and every report export to CSV from the page you are on. Everything is also available through the REST API, which is documented with OpenAPI, so your data will never be locked inside JamCash.
Security
How will JamCash protect my bank connection?
JamCash never sees your bank password. SimpleFIN Bridge holds the bank login; JamCash stores only the read-only access link SimpleFIN issues, encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is written to the database. Unlinking deletes it, and a new setup token is needed to reconnect.
How are API keys protected?
API keys are shown once, when you create them. JamCash stores only a SHA-256 hash of each key plus a short prefix for recognition. Each key has scopes (read, write, or bank administration), an optional expiry and a last-used time, and can be revoked at any moment.
